Tidbit Thursday – Pineapples and Cream Chiller

Despite the flocks of ducks I saw flying today, summer is not over.  There will still be stinkin’ hot days ahead, ones that are just begging for a cool, refreshing drink.  Here is a lovely option for you.

Chapmans Ice Cream PailStart with some vanilla ice cream.  What?  You don’t buy ice cream at your house in 12L pails?  Really?  Wow

Scoop some in a glass.

Then add a big spoon of frozen pineapple concentrate.

It should kinda look like this.

Then a can of ginger ale.

You will end up with something like this.  Be careful when adding the ginger ale, though.  It will foam up a lot.  Considerably more than a root beer float, even, because the pineapple will also react with the carbonation.

If you don’t want to make the rest into juice right away, simply pop it into a freezer safe container and save for next time.

And don’t forget the pineapple that will be inevitable left in the bottom of the can.  Throw in a swig or two of ginger ale to rinse it out and pour that into your cup, too.

This drink has several variations.  I don’t care too much for the orange juice version, but mango is quite lovely.  The mixed frozen juice blends are delish.  Try one of the ones that contain bananas as part of the mix.  Divine.

And there you have it.  Yummy slushy cool you off drink that doesn’t even require you to break out the blender.
