Disney’s Beauty And The Beast 25th Anniversary Edition

Disney's Beauty & The Beast 25th Anniversary Edition

The Disney vault has been opened again – this time releasing Beauty and the Beast 25th Anniversary Edition on Blu-Ray and DVD. This is one of those timeless classics that should be in every home viewing library. Also – you can’t tell me ‘Be Our Guest’ is not already running through your head on repeat.

Now a whole new generation of viewers will follow the magical journey of Belle, an independent and intelligent, modern-day heroine who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Despite her precarious situation, Belle befriends the castle’s enchanted staff—a teapot, a candelabra, and a mantel clock, among others—and ultimately learns to see beneath the Beast’s exterior to discover the heart and soul of a prince.

Beauty and the Beast was the first animated film to receive an Academy Award nomination for best picture. Even a quarter century later, it’s not hard to see why. The storyline features a very independent young woman – not a victim by any means. Her depth of love for her father and the lengths she is willing to go to sacrifice for his well-being are remarkable. But she is no shrinking violet. When faced with a marriage proposal by the self-important Gaston, she stoutly refuses him. And when Beast behaves badly, she does not hesitate to tell him so. It is a rare thing for a heroine to be portrayed in such a light.
This new Signature Collection Edition contains three versions of the animated classic, including a sing-along version and a host of bonus behind the scenes interviews, talent updates, early film developments, and recording sessions.
Now is a great time to start tucking away stocking stuffers and bad weather viewing options. Beauty and the Beast is a great gift for fans young and old alike.
