Do you remember the good old days? I mean, back when, if you didn’t catch a movie at the theatre, you wouldn’t get to see it for a month of Sundays? There was even a cable company commercial about it. I used to try and calculate how long a month of Sundays was in real time. Don’t ask – I clearly had more time on my hands that perhaps I should have. Those producer people are on it nowadays. Movies and television shows make it to DVD in the blink of an eye. Case in point? The latest My Little Pony, Rescue Bots, and Littlest Pet Shop series.
With Spring Break on it’s way, it might be a good time to stock up on a few discs to keep the smaller people entertained. The weather over March Break isn’t known for it’s predictability and keeping them occupied by taking them to an organized event every day is both taxing and cost prohibitive. Sprinkling a couple of shows between artistic endeavours and outdoor adventures will keep everybody sane.
The Littlest Pet Shop juggernaut shows no signs of slowing down. At. All. In fact, they have now released a new set of toys that come in a rainbow of colours. You can collect the umpteen million of them in every shade under the sun and line them up in an aesthetically pleasing manner. Until your kid brother knocks them all over your room, but that’s another story. A slightly less stressful (and cost effective) LPS indulgence is the latest TV-to-DVD. Five episodes, about two hours worth of viewing time.
Gone are the Transformers of my youth. Now we have the new and improved Transformers Rescue Bots – a specialized group Transformers that work in the public service sector. I’m not sure if danger pay is in their contract or not, but the overtime they put in would surely kill any city budget. Why do bad guys not plan their attacks between 9-5? Somebody should really work on that. At any rate, Protect and Explore offers nearly two hours of viewing in 5 episodes. It does not, however, offer a singalong.
And last but not least, My Little Pony Friendship is Magic has also rounded up five of it’s best episodes for your regular home viewing enjoyment. Exploring the Crystal Empire is everything you’d want in an animated series and more – including a singalong! Multi-colour equine who sing and dance, make friends, and have adventures – what more could you possibly hope for?
