During the Christmas season it’s not uncommon for families to get together and head to the movie theater to see a blockbuster. The boys in our family did it a few years ago when Avatar was released and it was a nice a outing for the afternoon. A chance to get away from the Christmas chaos and relax.
If you are anything like me (approaching middle age with young children) you will undoubtedly want to make sure the movie you select is a sure thing. In that case may I recommend Thor: The Dark World in 3D. We received 2 tickets to the pre-screening a few weeks ago and I have to say I enjoyed this installment more than the 1st Thor movie.
A brief synopsis:
Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World,” in theaters November 8, 2013, continues the big screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.
There was more action, more story and another great performance by Tom Hiddleston as Loki – he almost steals the show from the rest of the cast.
So take it from a tired father of 4 … go see Thor: the Dark World in 3D before it leaves the theaters.
